Look and feel Younger

Your eyes are the focal point of your face. Oftentimes we look in the mirror and don’t recognize ourselves, thinking “I look tired”. Here at Green Lake Oral and Facial Surgery, we want to help you change the way you look at yourself. With eyelid surgery, known as Blepharoplasty, you can correct bags under the eyes and excess skin of the upper eyelid that often impair your vision. These conditions happen over time with age, genetics and outside environmental conditions. Blepharoplasty removes excess skin and fat from above and/or below the eyelids. This procedure is minimally invasive and can be done under twilight sedation or local anesthetic. What you’ll love the most are the instant results!

Eyelid Surgery FAQs

Eyelid surgery is the least painful cosmetic procedure and causes minimal discomfort. You will experience minor to moderate bruising and swelling.

You will experience blurry vision temporarily, which goes away after several hours. You may also have sensitivity to light, watery eyes or itchiness.

Typical recovery time varies from 1 week to 2 weeks, depending on the patient and the extent of your surgery but full recovery takes around 6 to 8 weeks.

    • Days 1-2: Ensure your eyes stay dry, especially when showering.
    • Days 3-7: You can start cleansing your eyes with mild soap and gently pat dry. It’s important not to pick, snag or tear sutures or scabs.
    • Day 7: Sutures can be removed
    • Day 14: You can go back to normal routine and makeup use as long as areas have healed correctly.

All surgery has risks, including reaction to anesthesia and blood clots. Besides those, rare risks of eyelid surgery include:

  • Infection and bleeding
  • Dry, irritated eyes
  • Difficulty closing the eyes or other eyelid problems
  • Noticeable scarring
  • Injury to eye muscles
  • Skin discoloration
  • Temporarily blurred vision or, rarely, loss of eyesight
