Submental Liposuction Recovery Timeline

Recovery from submental liposuction is typically straightforward. Most patients return to work within a week, with final contouring visible after two to three months.

• First 24 Hours: You will leave our surgical center wearing a compression garment to reduce swelling and help the skin adhere to your new contours. Mild swelling, tightness, and numbness are normal. Keep your head elevated and rest as much as possible.
• Days 1–2: Swelling and tenderness peak during this time. Continue wearing your compression garment as directed and take approved over-the-counter medication if needed. Eat soft foods and avoid strenuous activity.
• Days 3–7: Most patients notice improvement in swelling and feel ready to return to non-physical work. Bruising may linger but is easy to conceal. Continue wearing your garment and avoid heavy lifting or bending.
• Weeks 2–3: Residual swelling lessens, and early contour improvements become noticeable. Some patients may begin gentle lymphatic massage if recommended by their surgeon.
• 1–3 Months: Swelling continues to subside as the skin tightens around the refined contours. Final results become visible, revealing a smoother, more defined neck and jaw line.
